Most International students who are studying in a course of more than one year duration can work part time up to 20 hours a week during course time and full time during vacation periods, provided this does not interfere with their study program. Universities and TAFE institutions have a Careers Office, which regularly posts employment vacancies. Part-time work is not difficult to find, however, there is strong competition. However we advise students not to depend on part-time work for their expenses. It is very important for students to concentrate on their studies before looking for work.
Many universities and colleges in Australia provide a special service called “Job Access” that helps students to find a good position in the job market. Apart from that students can also find the jobs in newspaper, online and from events and job fairs. There will be Employment Officer in many universities to help students look part-time work, most of which is non-professional, such as waiting on tables, cleaning or sales. Students may find casual work picking and packaging fruits and vegetables on local farms but such work is not guaranteed. In Australia it is very easy and also difficult as well to get employed for the international students. Many students are able to get a job after spending certain time, if they are good in speaking English. If you are good in speaking English earlier, then you can obviously find good opportunities. It is for sure that only immigrants can acquire a full time job.
Many tertiary institutions have a career service. They advertise job vacancies, help their students to find work and give information on writing applications and approved payment rates. Employment centers at institutions advertise a range of jobs. You can also find work through newspaper advertisements, an employment agency or the government’s national employment service, Job network. Students can also get a job in their field of education and this will build a good platform for their career and helps them after completion of their academics. Even the country encourages the students with preceding professional skills. There is high possibility for the students to get Permanent Residence in Australia. Many Universities and colleges are now accommodating the job market by changing the study curriculum in order to place the students in good positions. In this process, students will be recruited as a trainee during their final semester and after completion of their academics they will be appointed permanently.
Australia is always in need of skilled people and Australia has been building its population through immigration from the past 200 years. Australia is an extremely popular destination for Indian students looking to study postgraduate courses. Postgraduate courses in Australia can last between six months and four years. If taking a graduate program in Australia students will have the opportunity to choose between either taught or research led courses. A master’s degree assessed by coursework will last 18 months to 24 months, students will require to complete a dissertation alongside their classroom study, whilst a research-led masters is often used to prepare students for a PhD and takes two years or more. This also requires a significant amount more independent study than a taught program. Australian institutions offer a wide range of courses – from science to management and commerce, humanities to engineering, and law to health sciences. Australian institutions rank among the world’s best by discipline, particularly in engineering and technology, medicine, environmental science, and accounting and finance. Anyone intending to undertake 3 months or longer full time study in Australia will need to obtain a student visa. This permits the holder to travel to, enter and remain in Australia for the duration of the course of study We advise all students to submit their application at least 9 to 12 weeks before the course commencement date. The process of Australian student visa begins with the application for admission in university / institute. Then an offer letter would be sent first where they accept you to join a course, based on which you need to pay the first semester fee and overseas student health cover At this time the student will need to prove to the institute that he meets the Genuine Temporary Entry (GTE) requirement and also demonstrate that they have sufficient funds for tuition fee, living expenses and travel expenses for the duration of study. The living expenses are calculated at AUD 18,610 per year

Once the institute is satisfied with all the requirement they will then issue the Electronic Confirmation of Enrollment (eCoE). With the eCoE students can then lodge their visa application.
